For days leading up to this wedding, we watched the weather reports closely. The forecast bounced back and forth from heavy rains to no rain at all, and a myriad of predictions somewhere in the middle. The ceremony was to be held outdoors, on a grassy area overlooking the beach in La Jolla and with no options to move the wedding date, time or location, the wedding would go on as planned rain or shine! On the drive from Oceanside, we encountered a few heavy downpours and wondered what the ceremony location and time would have in store for us.
The bride had a great attitude about it all. She was cheerful and excited and ready to be married! She looked fabulous and took the rain issue in stride, walking down the aisle with an umbrella to shield her from the sprinkling that was coming down.
The couple exchanged vows and rings and shared communion in a short, but beautiful ceremony. They followed that up with a bit of cake and pictures with all of their friends and family.
Because of the wet grass and mud encountered during and immediately following the ceremony, we had no problems getting this lovely couple down onto the beach. When the dress has been through the rain and dirt, what’s a little sand gonna hurt?
This was a first for us, as we have never photographed an event in the rain. But it was a fun new challenge that we embraced. The bride’s joy reminded us all of one very important thing that applies not just to weddings and special events, but to every day: You can let your happiness be dictated by circumstances or choose to be happy in spite of them.
This is amazing! Not only because I know this beautiful couple and not only because I was blessed to have Boyer Photography photograph my own wedding… but WOW!!! What a beautiful true story with even greater pictures! You rock!
