Boys will be boys!

Apr 17th, 2010
Boys will be boys! When someone calls and says, “I’d like you to shoot my two year old,” We can respond with complete honesty when we say, “I understand. We all have those days… How about we photograph him instead?” Just as it is a challenging age to parent, it’s a tricky age to work with from the perspective of a photographer. Combine fearless curiosity with massive amounts of energy, budding independence and the attention span of a gnat, and you have a recipe for total unpredictability. What you get is often a child who refuses to take any sort of direction, has no...

Michael & Kendall San Diego Wedding at Cabrillo Monument

Apr 3rd, 2010
Michael & Kendall San Diego Wedding at Cabrillo Monument We’ve known Kendall since before she was old enough to buy a lotto ticket. Now she’s all grown up and when we found out that she and Michael were planning their wedding, we were honored that they wanted Boyer Photography to be the photographer for their special day. Michael and Kendall’s story is similar to one we have heard many times lately. They knew each other in high school, but weren’t romantically involved. Life took them separate ways only to bring them back together again, only this time, it was love! Family and friends gathered for this Saturday afternoon...

Thomas in the Park

Mar 30th, 2010
Thomas in the Park Thomas was actually due a few weeks after our son, Jeremiah, but he was born several weeks early and Jeremiah arrived over two weeks late. We teased his mom in the hospital that it would be funny one day to explain to our boys that Thomas wasn’t actually older, he was just born first! Thomas and his mom came up from San Diego to Oceanside this past weekend for a quick mini-session at the park. He is an adorable boy, equal parts charm and mischief! Thomas loves to explore and is a joy to work with as a photographer. We hope that we get to photograph him again very...

Chris & Kim San Diego Engagement Portraits

Mar 26th, 2010
Chris & Kim San Diego Engagement Portraits Chris was the best man at our wedding nearly 10 years ago. He and Jason had worked together at their first dot com jobs, during the big internet boom, so when we got engaged, Jason knew he wanted Chris at his side as we said “I do!” Now, it’s our pleasure to be a part of Chris’s wedding plans, as he prepares to marry his sweetheart, Kim. Chris and Kim are a really active couple; they hike and camp and generally love the outdoors. Of course, living in San Diego, they get to enjoy nature all year round, so they knew of the perfect place for their engagement portraits....

Beachside Wedding with Jack & Ruby

Mar 24th, 2010
Beachside Wedding with Jack & Ruby Ruby went to high school with Jason, so it was a bit of a blast from the past when she contacted us a while back to do a couple’s portrait session in San Diego. During their photo shoot, Jason really enjoyed working with them and remarked that he’d love to do their engagement photography when the time comes. Ruby playfully elbowed at Jack as though to say, “Yeah, you should get on that!” So you can imagine our surprise when we got a last-minute request to shoot their Carlsbad beach wedding just six months later! We’re huge fans of short engagements. Our own engagement...

Sunday, Fun Day!

Mar 22nd, 2010
Sunday, Fun Day! Some days it would be a crime to stay indoors. This Sunday in San Diego was just such a day. Of course, lovely weather also brings about a perfect opportunity for outdoor family photography! We invited some friends to meet us at one of our favorite Oceanside parks for some playtime and a casual portrait session for the kids. A great time was had by all and we captured some adorable photos of the children too. Who says work can’t be...

A Tender Moment

Mar 20th, 2010
A Tender Moment Jason recently spent some time with his friend John and had the pleasure of meeting John’s lovely wife, Kerri, and their new baby, Matthew. The love that they share for each other and their precious little one is not at all hard to see. At just 3 months old, little Matthew has a lot of growing to do and wanted to spend the whole day eating and sleeping in order to fuel that growth. This meant he wasn’t keen on posing for portraits, but Jason did manage to snap a few of pictures for the family to commemorate this special time in their lives, when John and Kerri went from being a...

The Forecast: Wedding with a chance of showers

Mar 12th, 2010
The Forecast: Wedding with a chance of showers For days leading up to this wedding, we watched the weather reports closely. The forecast bounced back and forth from heavy rains to no rain at all, and a myriad of predictions somewhere in the middle. The ceremony was to be held outdoors, on a grassy area overlooking the beach in La Jolla and with no options to move the wedding date, time or location, the wedding would go on as planned rain or shine! On the drive from Oceanside, we encountered a few heavy downpours and wondered what the ceremony location and time would have in store for us. The bride had a great attitude about it all. She...

Jordan & Angela’s Engagement

Feb 26th, 2010
Jordan & Angela’s Engagement Angela has worked with Boyer Photography before in developing her modeling portfolio and she loved the services we provided to her. So when she got engaged, she approached us to see if we could do an engagement photo session with her and her fiancé. The first date they had booked with us ended up with a storm approaching, and since they wanted outdoor portraits on a non-rainy day, we quickly rescheduled for a few days later when they would be available again. Since we are all located in the northern part of San Diego, we met up with them in Carlsbad for a bit of casual fun, where an alley, a...

President’s Day in the Park

Feb 16th, 2010
President’s Day in the Park This couple booked us to photograph their March wedding, but because they found us late in their search for a photographer, they hadn’t planned on having the time for an engagement portrait shoot. Since we love to get to know our clients before the “big day,” we encouraged them to spend an afternoon with us at Balboa Park in San Diego for some pre-wedding photos. Despite it being a holiday, we weren’t headed to the zoo or museums, and that’s where the crowds would be, so that left the areas we wanted to go with very little foot traffic. These two love to play and truly enjoy each...
